My journey into SEND (Special Educational Needs and Disabilities) began when I was struggling with ehm in primary school. Traditional teaching methods didn't work for me, but Mrs. Johnson, my Year 4 teacher, recognized that I needed a different approach. She used multi-sensory techniques and broke down complex tasks into manageable steps, helping me not just cope, but thrive academically.
After qualifying as a SEND Specialist and completing additional training in learning differences, I've dedicated my career to supporting students with diverse learning needs. From children with ADHD who need movement breaks to students with autism who benefit from visual schedules, I've seen how the right support can transform a child's educational journey. Every breakthrough moment - whether it's a dyslexic student finally reading fluently or an anxious learner gaining confidence in mathematics - continues to drive my passion for inclusive education.
